The International OSA Network of Students connects optics and photonics scholars from around the globe. IONS conferences are pledged to offer an international and professional student networking platform in addition to the typical academic experience; a singular difference from other scientific conferences.

General information
The ninth IONS-Europe conference will take place April 7-9th, 2011 in Salamanca, Spain.  The  OSA Student Chapter of Salamanca (OSAL) is spearheading the event.

Travel Grants
The deadline to apply for a Travel Grant is on Monday, 7th February 2011.

One page abstract is required following the instructions given in the template “IONS9 - Abstract Template” available in Downloads and send it to us via email to (please attach pdf and word files). Submission deadline is February, 7th.
We recommend you staying at the hostal Hostal Barcelona. It is a very nice hostel, situated in the very city center, near to both the bus station and the conference venue.  It has the best prices in Salamanca starting from 15,12 € per night!

IONS-8 Moscow

The 8th European IONS conference was organized by students of Moscow State and Bauman State Technical Universities and took place from June 21st until June 25th, 2010. All the information about the conference can be found at the official webpage.
In this case, our chapter president, Rocío, attended the meeting. 
Student chapter session
Our Simpson based student chapter poster was presented ... and for the student chapter competition we made a Simpsons based movie! =) 
Scientific session
In this case, we presented a poster under the title "Post-compression enhancement by controlling the wavefront".
Social life!
After the hard work during the week, we enjoyed a wonderful social day in Moscow!

IONS-7 Galway

The 7th IONS Europe meeting was hosted by the  NUI Galway Student Chapter of the OSA at the National University of Ireland, Galway on 4, 5, 6 March 2010. All the information about the conference can be found at the official webpage.
Three members from OSAL (Carolina Romero, Carlos Hernández-García and Rocío Borrego Varillas) attended the meeting.

During the student chapter poster session we presented two posters:

Social life!
After the hard work during the day we enjoyed a dinner and walking tour in Galway.
From here we would like to thank Arlene, Kevin C. and Kevin M. (as well as the other members of NUI Galway) for the great time we spent in Galway!!
